Following recent desirous test results, Litespeed F3, the so called ‘newbie’ to the British F3 International Series, has chosen Jonathan Legris, ‘ace’ of the Formula 3 Spain Copa de España 2008, to front its challenge at Brands Hatch on 13th July.

‘We are delighted that Jonathan is ‘taking the seat’ for us’, said Nino Judge, Team Manager. ‘He has more than proved his capability in the Spanish F3 Series and coupled with his positive attitude, we feel very strongly that he is the best driver for us at Brands.’

Legris is currently sitting third in the Formula 3 Spain Copa de España, whilst driving a car that is up to 8 years older than others. Spa-Francorchamps brought two class wins, two overall second places and a lap record for this 20 year old, who has already seen 6 podiums in 2008.

It is perhaps not surprising that Litespeed F3, which is getting a reputation for its precision engineering, would be attracted to a driver of such meticulous talent.

‘I am incredibly impressed by what Litespeed has brought to the track,’ said Legris. ‘To be offered this chance by a team with an engineering history such as theirs makes my debut in British F3 both an honour and a challenge. I am looking forward to this drive as much as any that I have already undertaken and I look forward to a long and extremely successful relationship with Litespeed.’

Since Litespeed F3’s R1 was last seen on the track at Snetterton, the engineers have been working hard, shaving significant edges off lap times.

‘We may have a new driver at Brands, but Jonathan and the Litespeed R1 fit like a perfect glove,’ said Judge. ‘We will evidently see the results on the 13th, but we will continue to use 2008 to test our capability, then we will really be able to show our strength.’

Throwing down a challenge – maybe. Being a realistic contender to win the 2009 British F3 National Series – for sure !
